TEN DAYS PRIMATES TREKKING AND BIRDING IN RWANDA

Within ten days, we tracked Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes NP, then we went to Nyungwe NP to see Albertine Rift Endemics birds. The last 2 days we visited Umusambi Village and Gashora wetlands in Bugesera. In total 253 bird species were sighted among them 25 endemics to the Albertine Rift and many more unexpected animals like L’Hoesty Monkey, Mona Monkey, Black and White Colobus Monkeys along with species of Squirrels i.e  Carruther’s Mountain, Rwenzori African Giant, Flying and Fire-footed Squirrels.

REPORT ON EDUCATIONAL TOUR IN RWANDA

Kigali, 4th-8th February 2019

Trip summary

On 4th to 8th February 2018, an education trip was organised for students and teachers of International School of Dar Es Salam to learn the life style of Rwandese, clearly understand the Genocide of Tutsi in 1994 and see how the country recovered from the aftermath genocide and war. Students visited the Kigali Genocide Memorials, and by the on the end of the trip they visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum to understand how the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) stopped Genocide and rescued survivors.

Trip Report

From 3rd to 11th September, we have conducted a birding and wildlife game driving tour in Akagera and Nyungwe National Parks-Rwanda. The trip was very enjoyable and successful. The accommodation was budgeted but clean, the transport and guiding were well organized. The main target of this trip was to see maximum of Albertine Rift Endemics and we saw 25 out of 29 found in Nyungwe NP. We missed Kivu ground Thrush, Albertine Owlet, Shelley’s Crimsowing, Rokefeller’s Sunbird.
